Following the corona virus: the chances of a stroke skyrocket
A new study by the Ministry of Health shows that the chance of having a stroke in the week after contracting the corona virus increases significantly
The Center for Disease Control of the Ministry of Health conducted a new study in order to check whether those infected with the corona virus have an increased risk of having a stroke. According to the publication in ‘Khan Haod’, the answer is yes.
The data of the study show that there is a fourfold increase among men in the chance of having a stroke in the week after being infected with the corona virus. Among women there is a smaller increase, but also a very significant increase – twice as likely.
The Ministry of Health’s study connects to other studies conducted around the world regarding the phenomenon, which also show that there are similar data regarding the chance of a stroke in the week after being infected with the corona virus.
The researchers in Israel wanted to see if the data in Israel matched the data abroad. The reasons for the increased chances of getting a stroke are that the virus itself was known to cause health problems.
